The bench of DC Deputies called on the government of President Gabriel Boric “not only to send a bill to lower the high price of fuel for vehicular use, but also to send an initiative that allows lowering the price of paraffin which has increased significantly in recent weeks”
The information was delivered by the Head of the DC Bench, Eric Aedo, regarding the project that the Executive will enter this Monday, with immediate discussion, to deliver more resources to the MEPCO, which regulates the price of automotive gasoline, diesel oil, gas for vehicular use and compressed natural gas for vehicular use, and which will be voted on in the room on Tuesday.
The Falangist parliamentarian said that “it is important to lower the price of fuel used by vehicles, but we believe that the serious situation experienced by thousands of households in the country that use paraffin for heating and that have seen their price increase cannot be ignored. significantly in recent weeks.
“For this reason, we tell the government that it can conceive with our votes to approve this project the arts in the wings, but also, we ask that with the same urgency, enter a project that allows lowering the price of paraffin, for example delivering resources to the FEPP, where it is included”.
“The cold months of autumn and winter are approaching and many low-income families depend on paraffin to heat their home and its price is very high, and if we add the increases in the price of bread and food in general, the outlook is Too complex”.
For his part, Deputy DC Ricardo Cifuentes, a member of the Chamber’s Finance Committee, added that “the government’s initiative to add resources to the MEPCO seems very timely, because fuel prices have skyrocketed and that generates an impact very large in families and as all products are indexed to fuels by the value of freight, all products end up going up”.
“However, the government should take the same initiative with respect to the Oil Price Stabilization Fund, FEPP, where paraffin is included, which has risen more than benzine and oil and aid is required for kerosene.”
“From the Chamber’s Treasury Commission we are available to urgently process all the initiatives that the government sends us and that serve to improve the situation of families in our country.”
