Davos: Julio Velarde will participate this Wednesday in the World Economic Forum

The president of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR), Julio Velarde, will present himself this Wednesday, January 18, at the 53rd Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, which is taking place from the 16th to the 20th of this month.

According to the BCR, will participate as a panelist in two of the sessions of the aforementioned international meeting.

“Julio Velarde will participate in two sessions. The first, “Facing fragility: Central Bank Digital Currencies”, will be held on Wednesday, January 18. This session will analyze the scenario in which more than 100 countries are exploring central bank digital currency (CBDC) and the lessons from the nations that have already implemented it,” the entity said in a statement.

MONETARY POLITICS

He will also be present at the session “What’s next for the monetary politics?” on Friday, January 20.

In the latter, the period of strong increase in the world inflation that led to the biggest tightening of monetary policy in decades. Is a radical rethinking required by central banks, or are the current goals and tools enough?

The annual economic meeting is one of the most prominent global forums. It brings together a large part of the most important people from the field of business, politics, civil society and academia, to arrive at a common diagnosis of the most pressing global problems and outline solutions.
