The president of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR), Julio Velarde, will present himself this Wednesday, January 18, at the 53rd Meeting World Economic Forumin Davos, Switzerland, which is taking place from the 16th to the 20th of this month.
According to the BCR, Julio Velarde will participate as a panelist in two of the sessions of the aforementioned international meeting.
“Julio Velarde will participate in two sessions. The first, “Facing fragility: Central Bank Digital Currencies”, will be held on Wednesday, January 18. This session will analyze the scenario in which more than 100 countries are exploring central bank digital currency (CBDC) and the lessons from the nations that have already implemented it,” the entity said in a statement.

He will also be present at the session “What’s next for the monetary politics?” on Friday, January 20.
In the latter, the period of strong increase in the world inflation that led to the biggest tightening of monetary policy in decades. Is a radical rethinking required by central banks, or are the current goals and tools enough?
