David water treatment plant reduces production, after hydraulic oil leak during dam works

The Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), reported this Saturday morning that yesterday while carrying out dam work, taking the Majagua river, which supplies the Ciudad David water treatment plant, in Chiriquí, one of the excavators presented an oil leak hydraulic.

Immediately, for safety reasons, the water supply to the plant was closed, while tests were carried out to confirm that there were no hydrocarbons in the water.

This situation has forced the population to reduce water production, due to the fact that cleaning work is being carried out in the affected catchment and adduction area.

David’s water treatment plant has two outlets, so production is currently maintained, although with reduced capacity. It is expected that by afternoon the preventive cleaning work will be completed and normal production will be restored.

EI IDAAN apologizes for the inconveniences presented and urges the population to make rational use of water.
