He tourism minister, David Colladosupervised this Saturday several works that this institution carries out in Higueywith the aim of strengthening the tourism offer in the province of La Altagracia.
Collado HE met with engineers and technicians in charge of works to verify that the construction schedule is met and guarantee on-time delivery to the community.
“Today we came here, to Higueyto verify the progress in the works executed by the Ministry of Tourism and guarantee its delivery on the established date,” said the official when speaking with journalists from the province of La Altagracia.
Among the works supervised by Colladothe Ministry of Tourism cited the reconstruction work of the women’s park (Obelisk), as well as those of sidewalks and curbs that are carried out in the perimeter of the basilicathe main sanctuary of the country.
These interventions, which will have a great impact on the beautification of the surroundings of the basilicaare carried out with a total investment of RD$33,268,314.
He official stated that small works how these make a difference in an entire environment and, even more so, in a religious symbol as is the Basilica of Higuey.

Reconstruction of the women’s park
The project, which will have an investment of RD$7,687,803, consists of the reconstruction of the women’s park (Obelisk), located in the center of the municipality of Higuey. The intervention will be in a total area of approximately 455.32 square meters.
The works include: intervention of the obelisk, concrete paving, placement of concrete tablets and synthetic wood on the central walkway, planters, stairs, ramps, sidewalks and curbsconcrete benches, urban equipmentstorm drainage grilles, lighting and urban tree planting.

Reconstruction on the perimeter of the Basilica
The reconstruction project of the sidewalks and curbs of the perimeter of the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of La Altagracia is an intervention by 505 square meterswith an investment of RD$25,580,511.
This intervention covers 259 linear meters of the north sidewalk and another 246 linear meters of the south sidewalk.
It will also include the reconstruction of cobbled sidewalkscontainers and pedestrian crossing at the front entrance of the Basilica, concrete paving, construction of planters, urban tree planting, construction of accessibility ramps, lighting on road posts and equipment with trash cans.
