He tourism minister, David Colladoinaugurated this Wednesday a modern vehicle parking lot for visitors on the beach of Bayahibein the province of La Altagracia, with the aim of improving the road safety and pedestrian in the area.
The work was executed with an investment of 213.4 million pesos, in an intervention area of about 26,000 square meterson land that was mostly donated by Roman Central.
The project has spaces for 58 buses, 157 light vehicles and 58 motorcyclesfor a total of more than 270 units.
“Today we are here fulfilling our promise and attending to an old community claim that will put an end to the existing chaos, guaranteeing the road safety and pedestrian in this entire area visited by foreign and national tourists,” said Collado.
Impact and benefits for the community and tourism
The minister stated that the work resolves the vehicular and pedestrian congestion that affected the environment, and improves the flow of visitors to the ports of shipment that connect with Saona Island, the public beach of Bayahibe and recreational and commercial activities in the area.
In addition to the parking lot, the project included the construction of 2,364 square meters of sidewalks, storm drainagepaving of North Street, vertical and horizontal signage, informative signage, bollards, trash cans, benches, paths and a pedestrian bridge.
The infrastructure also has a bathroom module, security booths of the Tourist Police, lightning, landscaping and urban equipment.

According to the Ministry of Tourismthe work was executed in accordance with the legal norms and environmentalwith the purpose of guaranteeing a sustainable development and a safe experience for both tourists and residents.
Collado highlighted the social value and tourism of the project, pointing out that it organizes the public space, improves mobility and strengthens the infrastructure of the destination Bayahibe.
