After five years away from the Cuban stage, David Calzado and Charanga Habanera announced this Monday the release of a new album and the holding of their own concert at the Karl Marx theater.
The phonogram, titled 35 years charangueandois a double production licensed by the Bis Music label that brings together 20 premieres and emblematic songs of the group, now revisited with new arrangements and performers, reported Latin Press.
The album includes collaborations with national and international artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Víctor Muñoz, Mayito Rivera, Alexander Abreu, Arlenys Rodríguez, Mandy Cantero and the urban project Mamá soy shining.
During the meeting with the press, the production manager of Bis Music, José Manuel García, pointed out that the incorporation of David Calzado to the label’s catalog was a project that had been in the making for several years and described the result as “a great treat.”
For his part, Calzado himself explained that the intention was to explore other musical directions without losing the essence that has characterized Charanga Habanera for more than three decades.
The general manager of Bis Music, Neris González, stressed that the concert at the Karl Marx will be one of the central moments of the Encore Music Fest.
The show will have the artistic direction of the actress and presenter Edith Massola and will mark the first time that the group performs its own concert on the emblematic stage.
The show is scheduled for Saturday, December 20 at 9:00 p.m.
The tickets will be on sale during the week at the theater box officewhile the album will be available on all digital platforms starting Friday, December 19.
Twenty successful albums by the controversial and popular Charanga Habanera have placed David Calzado among the most prominent orchestra directors of Cuban popular music.
