The telenovela, broadcast in more than 100 countries and dubbed in 15 different languages, left an indelible mark on Colombian television and in the hearts of its fans.

Daughter of Berta de Gonzáles in ‘Ugly Betty’
One of the characters that left a lasting impression on viewers is Berta de Gonzáles, played by talented actress Luces Velásquez. Berta, a woman worried about her figure after a liposuction that did not turn out as she expected. During the filming, Velásquez became pregnant, and her newborn daughter, Oriana Lozada Velásquez, made brief appearances in the telenovela.
Unlike her mother, Oriana decided to stay away from the public eye. Her life took a different direction, focusing on health and well-being, away from the cameras. During an interview on City TV’s “Bravísimo” program, Luces Velásquez revealed that her daughter practiced ballet and piano in her youth. However, fame and public recognition were not to her liking.
“She didn’t think this thing about popularity and public recognition, which she had to endure during ‘Ugly Betty,’ was cool. She didn’t understand this thing about recognition and being denied privacy, but she also has this thing about helping people and she loves medicine,” said Velásquez.
