The match between Argentina and Venezuela, for the 17th date of the South American Qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, was officially moved from March 24 to 25, it was confirmed this Friday after a meeting between the Secretary of Human Rights of the Nation, Horacio Piettragalla, and the president of the AFA, Claudio Tapia.
“The change of date had been a request from the Human Rights Organizationswhich was carried out thanks to a management of the Human Rights Secretariat in conjunction with the AFA, so that on March 24, the Day of Memory for Truth and Justice, acts and marches can be held in commemoration of the disappeared men and women of the last civic-military dictatorship”highlighted this Friday an official statement from the AFA.

In the meeting, which was also attended by one of the institution’s vice presidents, Marcelo Achile, It was announced that the Human Rights Secretariat and the AFA will begin to work together on actions related to the promotion of human rights within Argentine soccer.
“The objective of the announcement seeks to reaffirm and deepen the commitment between sport and human rights and is part of the public policies of Memory, Truth and Justice that are carried out in our country,” he stressed.
The rest of the matches on the date will be played on March 24: Uruguay-Peru, Colombia-Bolivia, Paraguay-Ecuador and Brazil-Chile.
Argentina is already qualified for the World Cup and Venezuela has no chancewith which the change of date does not impact the development of the competition or generate inconvenience for the rest of the teams.
