Darwin Espinoza on joining the Podemos Peru bench: "I have not asked for anything at all"

ANDCongressman Darwin Espinoza, new member of Podemos Peru, gave more details about his entry into the bench of Jose Lunto after his expulsion from Popular Action.

The parliamentarian clarified that his greatest interest is to do politics, so he met with various parties and finally reached an agreement with them. We can Peru.

“We have talked to different parties, not only those that have a bench, but no decision was reached to register me. Since we do not have a concrete decision, it is not a question of registering for the sake of registering, or being in a bench and then jumping to another, but rather of considering certain conditions for doing politics. So, I decided to talk to the representatives of Podemos to reach an agreement and integrate myself,” he said in an interview with RPP.

Espinoza clarified that he did not negotiate anything in exchange for joining Podemos Perú, which with his incorporation now has 14 members, which would allow him to chair a greater number of committees.

“More than negotiating, because I have not asked for anything at all. Yesterday, for example, they asked me which committee I would like to be on, I mentioned the committees I would like, but I have not conditioned my participation. Negotiation is when you give something and receive something. In this case, an agreement was simply reached that I can be part of the bench,” he said.

When asked if he spoke with leaders of the party and the parliamentary group, the parliamentarian confirmed that he spoke with José Luna and other Podemos leaders who are no longer in Congress.

“I have spoken with Congressman Luna’s son and with other leaders who are friends. I have also spoken with former Congressman Rennan Espinoza and with Arón Espinoza, Digna Calle’s husband,” he explained.

Espinoza says that his expulsion from Popular Action was a reprisal

Despite his decision to join another political group, the parliamentarian assures that he feels very identified with Popular Action and hopes his expulsion will be reversed.

In this regard, he recalled that he belonged to the party ‘long before those who are now leaders’ and described his departure from Popular Action as irregular and a reprisal by the current president of the party, Julio Chávez, for the support he gave to Edmundo del Águila.

“I have appealed the expulsion record because due process has not been followed. Look, the party president has been charged with influence peddling, money laundering and I think 20 or 30 charges. (…) I supported Mr. Edmundo del Águila and that is why he is retaliating against me,” he denounced.

In this sense he accused his excolleagues of the bench of having aligned themselves to the orders of Julio Chavez because he financed some political campaigns, however he avoided giving names.

“Everyone has aligned themselves with his (Julio Chávez’s) requests and it is known that he has also financed congressional campaigns, with logistics from the district municipality of San Martín de Porres, but the Attorney General’s Office is not investigating that (But would you say who?) In an investigation he could be pointed out (Raúl Doroteo?) Possibly, well, one of those who are there,” he explained.
