Darío Gómez: liquor sales increase after the artist’s death

After death of Darío Gómez, the ‘King of Spite’the inhabitants of Medellín have paid him various tributes and farewells, which have been accompanied not only by tears, but also by many drinks of liquor.

An example of this is the increase, between 20% and 50%, in liquor sales in Medellín, on the dates after the singer’s death. This was confirmed by Juan Pablo Valenzuela, director of Asobares de Antioquia.

“For this week we are estimating that there may be increases in sales between 20 and 50 percent, without a doubt, with that respect towards the teacher Darío Gómez, several establishments have offered tributes and special events to commemorate his departure,” said Valenzuela in statements collected by the newspaper El País de Cali.

The administrators of liquor stores and related businesses also pointed out that sales have increased, especially in rumba areas such as the sector of 70 in Medellín.
