The former president of the Republic, Danilo Medina, and the former attorney Francisco Domínguez Brito, are the leaders of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) who seek to preside over that political organization for a period of four years.
Medina formalized his candidacy for the presidency this Tuesday, after announcing that he was not going to opt for a re-election last May.
The registration of the former president was made before the Organizing Commission of the X Ordinary Congress Reinaldo Pared Pérez in its capacity as Electoral Commission, through a commission made up of Robert De la Cruz, Ramón de la Rosa and Rubén Darío Cruz.
While Francisco Domínguez Brito, who until now is the only leader who disputes the presidency with Medina, will formalize his registration this afternoon for the electoral tournament that will be held next Sunday, October 27, and in which the new one will also be elected. general secretary and to the members of the Political Committee.
For the voting that will take place starting at 9:00 in the morning in the Taekwondo pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, only the members of the Central Committee will have the right to vote through the use of electronic voting.
Among the candidates for the general secretary of the purple party, currently held by former senator Charles Mariotti, are José Dantés, Johnny Pujols and Luis de León.
