In November 2022, the Nicaraguan regime decided to grant Chang Cash the position of Ortega ambassador in El Salvador. Previously, he served as minister counselor with consular functions of the Nicaraguan diplomatic headquarters in the neighboring country.

The Ortega member was removed as Nicaragua’s highest representative in El Salvador in January 2024, just 13 months after being appointed. Three months later he returns to the diplomatic chess of the dictatorship, now in an African country.

Fan of the dictatorship

Chang Cash is described in his Instagram account as a “person of faith, principles, Christian and revolutionary values. Public servant of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.

His publications highlight the regime’s statements against the United States, speeches by Foreign Minister Denis Moncada Colindres, and he praises his career in the ranks of the Sandinista Front. He appears in photos with a red and black scarf tied around his neck.

Currently, relations between both countries remain stable, Nayib Bukele’s administration has withdrawn condemnations against the Nicaraguan regime, mainly due to international accusations and comparisons between both leaders accused of implementing “authoritarianism.”
