Daniela Álvarez: two years after her amputation and how she decided to smile at life

Daniela Álvarez’s life took an unexpected turn two years ago. As a result of an operation she had undergone in March, she developed ischemia, which led the doctors to make the decision to amputate her left leg to save her life.

The famous former beauty queen has since shared the hard times he has had to go through during his recovery and those first few times after surgery. Among some of those memorable occasions, Álvarez showed his first pedaling and walking with the prosthesis, he also celebrated with his followers when he danced again.

Two years after the event that changed his life forever, Daniela Álvarez did not hesitate to commemorate the date, focusing on the lessons learned from this experience. For her, everything is summed up in enthusiasm, in that feeling that is capable of driving human beings to do the unthinkable.

“How important it is to have it present in our lives,” said the presenter, referring to said emotion.

In the video that she shared this Monday, June 13 on her Instagram profile, the Colombian showed images of what her therapies have been, the challenges she had to face and the courage with which she took on each one of them, despite the pain and turmoil they caused him.

“Today I am two years after my amputation and I am sure that it has been the enthusiasm for living, the enthusiasm for overcoming difficulties and smiling at problems that has carried me forward. My doctors saw me smile in one of the most difficult moments that a human being can have: to lose a part of the body forever, and honestly I was not in shock, I knew how hard and how difficult it was, but I decided to smile!” Álvarez wrote in the description that accompanies the video.

The publication, set with the song Woman of a thousand battles, by Manuel Carrasco, shows the resilience of the former queen, who had to learn to deal with complications in both of her legs, reconcile with her body, move around in a wheelchair and take control of your body. A brave task to which Álvarez has been able to get the good side out of it.

“Smile at my life, smile at difficulty, smile at pain, smile before starting each exercise of my physiotherapysmile when I have fallen, smile when there is something that is difficult for me or that I can no longer do the same”, that has been his strategy to not give up in the face of the challenges he has had for two years.
