In his act of celebration of the re-election granted by the Supreme Electoral Council in voting without political competition, Daniel Ortega dedicated an hour and a half long speech on radio and television to attack the international community, mainly the European Union and The United States, whom he called “fascists” and “Nazis” for the convictions and ignorance of the voting process this Sunday, November 7.
Until this Monday, 38 countries have ignored the legitimacy of the elections that assigned Ortega and his wife Rosario Murillo 75.92% of the votes, in the middle of a process characterized by a high level of abstentions, which according to the citizen observatory Open Urns, reached up to 81.5%.
During his speech, Ortega called on the imprisoned political prisoners to eliminate the electoral political competition, among these seven presidential candidates, “sons of bitches of the imperialists”, in addition to their customary epithets of “traitors and peddlers.”
“Just as President (Franklin D.) Roosevelt used to say that Somoza is a son of a bitch, but that he was our son of a bitch, that is, those who are imprisoned there are the sons of bitches of the Yankee imperialists. They should be taken to the United States, because those are not Nicaraguans, they have no homeland, so that there they serve for what they are, slaves of the empire, traitors of the homeland, ”Ortega shouted amid the applause of his followers.
Among the prisoners of conscience are the presidential candidates of the opposition Cristiana Chamorro, Arturo Cruz, Félix Maradiaga, Juan Sebastián Chamorro, Medardo Mairena, Miguel Mora and Noel Vidaurre, accused of conspiracy against national sovereignty and money laundering. The last Cid Gallup poll carried out in October, contracted by CONFIDENCIAL, revealed that any of the seven imprisoned candidates would have beaten Ortega in free elections, obtaining 65% against 17% of the votes for Ortega.
The president was accompanied on his platform during the event by the high command of the Nicaraguan Army and the National Police, as well as diplomatic representatives from Abkhazia and South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.
“Here in Nicaragua, while Sandino was in the fight, the Yankees organized elections at the request of the traitors, of the traitors, like those who are in jail. With a Supreme Electoral Council managed by gringo officials. That was a disgrace and the bullies, peddlers accepting the results. That is what they wanted for these elections ”, alleged Ortega.
Attack the US and the European Union
During the electoral context, Ortega has imprisoned 39 new political prisoners among presidential candidates, political and civic leaders, businessmen, peasant leaders, students and journalists. In addition, it keeps another 113 political prisoners kidnapped for their participation in the citizen protests of April 2018.
The president of the United States, Joe Biden, declared that the elections in Nicaragua have been a “pantomime neither free, nor fair, and certainly not democratic” and warned after announcing that he will use “all diplomatic and economic tools” at his disposal including the so-called Renacer law, to increase pressure towards the Ortega regime.
“Imagine, Nicaragua is considered a threat to the security of the United States, always to maintain tools with which to continue harassing, applying what they call sanctions (…) They talk with the stick,” insisted Ortega.
For its part, the European Union (EU) considered that the re-election of Daniel Ortega lacks “legitimacy” – as the elections are held “without democratic guarantees” – and completes the conversion of the country into an “autocratic regime.”
Accuses rulers of Europe of “fascists and Nazis”
Ortega attacked Spain and the European Union, pointing out that their governments are controlled by fascist and Nazi operators, who always maintain what he calls a “colonialist mentality”.
“We have seen the recurrence of what is now known as the European Union which has a majority of fascist and Nazi parliamentarians. That is the democracy that Europe has. They are ruling in the majority of fascist countries and in the European Parliament, also the majority of its members are fascists and Nazis ”, said Ortega.
“That is why there is so much hatred against the peoples that we fight for our independence, for our sovereignty. That is why so much hatred against Cuba, against Venezuela, Bolivia. They always feel that these peoples continue to rebel and break the chains of colonialism, ”he continued.
Precisely, until now, the only three countries that have recognized the results of the voting and congratulated Ortega and Murillo for their electoral triumph have been Cuba, Venezuela and Bolivia.
Ortega also greeted the electoral companions who came to support his voting process and justified his ban on the entry of the international press to cover these irregular elections, claiming that they are “employees of US intelligence agencies.”
Finally, the president demanded that the international community recognize the results of the voting process. “We insist that our commitment is to peace. The people turned to vote for peace. We demand of the powers that live threatening us continuously, we want good relationships, relationships of respect ”.
The event later became a concert to celebrate the voting results, with music, dancers and drones. Even Ortega himself got off his platform to say hello, take selfies and even dance with the members of the musical groups who enlivened his speech with songs enhancing his image.
