The former head of the Sandinista Army of the 80s and brother of the dictator Daniel Ortega, Humberto Ortega, reappeared with an opinion article in which he pretends to be seen as a “world analyst” suggesting that, if inevitable and necessary, the United States could carry out a “lightning surgical” military operation against his brother’s regime, in case of endanger the “basic stability” of the region. Furthermore, he once again speaks of “coexistence” and democratic center government.
In the publication of the opinion section of La Prensa on Monday, May 13, the former member of the National Directorate of the Sandinista Front insists on what he calls “coexistence of political forces confronted with hatred”, referring to the dictatorship of his brother that appeased with blood and fire the civic protests and the opposition, which paid with more than 350 deaths for having protested.
That is to say, the former military leader of Sandinismo intends to put what he calls “hatred” of the opposition and the dictatorship on the same level, without mentioning that his brother and sister-in-law remain in power by force and through fraud, while the opposition She has been killed, wounded, imprisoned, exiled, denationalized and confiscated.
Likewise, the former military man speaks of a “democratic center” government. He recognizes the autocratic, “absolutist” drift of the regime, but prefers to omit the names of the leaders. He refers only to the “government party.”
The retired general, who has lived as a businessman in Costa Rica since leaving the Army, divides his analysis into 11 points. Dedicate the first seven to exposing what is happening in the world, emphasizing the fight for global hegemony waged by economic and military powers, mainly those with nuclear dominance such as the US, Russia, China and Europe, with the Treaty Organization. of the North Atlantic (NATO).
In this context, the youngest of the Ortega points out that the powers are tenseing the world situation, threatening a possible nuclear “hecatomb” that in the end they avoid, but seeking “advantageous negotiations” for each one.
In passing, he criticizes the United Nations (UN) that has been incapable of resolving the conflict in the Middle East, and takes the opportunity to expose the current global balance of forces.

«The world war machine is dominated by the US, Russia, China. NATO is strengthened by new members, which irritate Russia. Germany promotes its military development to once again be a great warrior power in the region. Japan strengthens its large army with long-range missiles. The US leads military supremacy, strengthening alliances in the Asia-Pacific, India, Vietnam, in its plan against China. Meanwhile, Russia has the most powerful nuclear arsenal in balance with the US and China is the second naval power, close to the US Navy,” the retired general assesses.
And it is in this context of global distribution between the “great powers” that Humberto affirms that “Nicaragua (Ortega-Murillo dictatorship) is more exposed to surgical, lightning action by the North American government, if it is deemed essential.”
Likewise, the retired military officer believes that the countries that make up the so-called Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), founded by the now deceased dictators Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, are also exposing themselves, provoking the US power “without being able to fight long-lasting wars of resistance.

Likewise, he reminds the governments of the world, clearly addressing the bellicose leftists of the tyrannies of Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela that, although in some way they can influence “they will not prevent the decisions that the great powers agree on.”
Something similar already happened in 1964, during the so-called “missile crisis” in Cuba. Russia secretly agreed with Fidel Castro to install missiles on the Caribbean island, in the immediate backyard of the United States. The maneuver unleashed a crisis that put the world on the brink of World War III. However, the two superpowers secretly negotiated the end of the crisis and they did not even take Castro into account, but he had to abide by what the greats agreed to..
Proposes global mobilization
According to Humberto Ortega, “only the mobilization and protest of citizens, the most conscious young people, will be able to contain the course towards disaster, forcing the powers to contract transcendent and historic peace agreements, a noble and just purpose of life or death.”
In the case of Nicaragua, the former Sandinista guerrilla and now prosperous businessman maintains that Nicaraguans are obliged to contribute to the solution agreed upon by the opposing powers, although he does not say how.
Harsh criticism of the opposition
The former Sandinista leader believes that the Nicaraguan opposition forces are “radical” and “undemocratic” because, in his opinion, they want the US Government to impose them in the country. And although he affirms that the Americans do not prioritize this possibility, it could happen if tensions increase worldwide and that is where the “flash surgical operation” fits.
After this warning, Humberto Ortega closes his “reflection” by stating that Nicaragua is obliged to resolve “urgently” the current political crisis, “promoting the art of governing from the democratic center for the coexistence of political forces confronted with hatred, ensuring the full freedom of the individual and unconditional non-alignment, with dignity, with the world power bloc that is inevitably chosen.
