In his analysis, the legislator highlighted that “two very clear campaigns” were developed, clearly differentiated: on the one hand, support for the ruling party, which he described as a strategy based on “fear” and promoting “the conservative instinct of citizens.” », with the aim of consolidating the votes of the ruling coalition against the Frente Amplio, rather than around its own political project.
On the other hand, he described the opposition campaign as focused on proposals, with an emphasis on closeness to the people. “It was a long journey, a lot of outreach to Uruguayans from the most remote places in the country,” he stated, highlighting that the focus was on finding concrete solutions to citizens’ problems, ranging from emergencies to medium and long-term issues. term.
Caggiani also praised the leadership of Carolina Cosse and Yamandú Orsi at this stage, and highlighted that the electoral process “finishes condensing” with citizens evaluating options to address the “country’s problems”, giving way to an election that will define the course politician in the future.
