Dani Alves, side of the Pumas UNAM of Mexico, injured the medial collateral ligament of his right knee, although, according to the player himself, he is not at risk to, if required, play with the Brazilian team in the Qatar World Cup 2022.

Los Pumas UNAM reported this Thursday in a press release about the injury that will cause the 39-year-old former Barça and Sevilla winger to miss the last day of the regular phase of the 2022 Apertura tournament.
“Dani Alves will not be able to close the 2022 Apertura tournament with Pumas. The Brazilian defender did not make the trip to Ciudad Juárez to face the match against Bravos due to an injury to the medial collateral ligament of his right knee, which is still under evaluation by of the club’s medical staff”, explained the UNAM team.
Despite not yet having a diagnosis from the Pumas doctors, Alves responded on his social networks to a publication by a Mexican media outlet, which assured that he will miss the World Cup, that he will be absent for the duel against Juárez FC is only as a precaution and that he will be ready for Qatar 2022.
“It’s not true, my friend Diogo (De Oliveira, Pumas striker) kicked me in training and as a precaution I don’t travel. POINT,” said Dani Alves, who signed for the Pumas in July after completing his second spell in Barça when Barça did not renew his contract.
