In their official Facebook profile, Codanza highlighted that with their choreographies they intend to cross Holguin neighborhoods, in order to go to where the public is and take them to their environment, music, dance, interpretation and love.
This was also ratified by the choreographer Yoel González, who reviewed that “the initiative stems from the need to invest in love and to transform, through art, vulnerable communities in this northeastern city, where they enter with compositions to the about five kilometers each day.
The also dancer and director of the Médula dance group, from Guantánamo, meant that this project has already left its mark in eight locations so far, in which it has been well received by the residents.
In that sense, he stressed that it has been a very enriching experience for each of the participants, as well as for the spectators, who have joined several of the presentations and danced with the Codanza professionals.
In this regard, González, winner of several editions of the North Atlantic Dance Contest and Vladimir Malakhov Grand Prix, wrote on his Facebook account that “the conditions do not matter, the idea is to provide colors to those who need it.”
The cultural intervention is part of the Choreographic Composition Practical Workshop, directed by González, who will continue with the staging of a great choreography based on the feelings and expressions of the dancers in each community; and it will have a third cycle, aimed at taking the work to those places where it was born.
This program also celebrates the 30th anniversary of the contemporary dance company Codanza, founded by Maricel Godoy on September 25, 1992.
