The rock world is in mourning. Dan McCafferty, original lead singer of band behind hit Love Hurts, has died at 76 years of age.
His death was revealed by another member of the group, Pete Angnew, who released a statement through the official Facebook of Nazareth.
“This is the saddest announcement I have ever had to make. Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful and loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the best singers that ever existed,” he wrote.
Dan McCafferty was born in 1946 in Scotland. Throughout his life he showed interest in musical matters.
He was one of the founding members of the Nazareth gang. which began its career in 1968. It is the rock group behind hits like Love Hurts, Dream On, Miss Misery, among other hits. Despite being a European band, they are considered pioneers of the hard rock genre in the United States.
Despite continuing to tour with Nazareth, in 2013 the group revealed Dan McCafferty’s retirement due to his health. The Ultimate Classic Rock site revealed that the singer suffered from a lung disease that prevented breathing properly.
