“We announce the beginning of the reception of international flights to and from the International Airport Damascus from January 7, 2025,” said the president of the Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, Ashhad Al Sulaibi, to the official Syrian news agency, SANA.
“We assure the arab airlines and international that we are in the process of completely rehabilitating the airports of Aleppo and Damascus with the help of our partners so that they can receive flights from all over the world,” he indicated.
Al Sulaibi did not announce which airlines will return to the Damascus airportclosed for international flights since shortly before December 8, the day of Al Assad’s overthrow, although the Qatari company Qatar Airways announced a few days ago that it will operate weekly flights to the Syrian capital.
