The nationalist senator sebastian da silva has made public its opinion about the conflict that is developing in the VAT. According to him, the student representative Geronimo Sena it is “being used” by the teachers’ union, the National Federation of Secondary School Teachers (FENAPES), and accused the PIT-CNT of “trying to create unnecessary agitation” around an issue that it described as “of little importance.”
The conservative and pro-government legislator assures that, since he took office, the PIT-CNT and the Broad Front have not stopped hindering his work, and that this situation is part of a alleged strategy for generate a crisis.
In his opinion, the government must ensure peace and stability, and not allow situations like this to cause episodes of violence like those that have occurred in Chile in the past.
Da Silva believes that the teachers’ union is largely to blame for the problems facing education in our country, and that it is not convenient for a 16-year-old teenager like Gerónimo Sena to be used to generate such agitation that he claims to see. In his opinion, it is important to prioritize objectives over personal positions.
“We cannot be at a time when a 16-year-old gurisito, with his typical adolescent romanticism, today could be being used by Fenapes, which is one of the problems that education has, a large part of which is to blame for the union of teachers”, argued Da Silva.
Regarding the sanction of the IAVA director, the senator considers that the regulations allow the authorities to take disciplinary measures, but that the most serious sanctions should be reserved for really serious offenses.
