A 43-year-old man died on Monday night after the driver of a vehicle ran over him while riding a bicycle in a fatal accident that occurred in La Paz, Canelones.
According to what was reported by the departmental authorities, the incident took place around 9:00 p.m. at kilometer 17 of Route 48.
The primary survey indicates that both the cyclist and the driver, a 21-year-old man, were traveling in the same direction: from east to west. Upon reaching the indicated point, the older man, who was in front, tried to turn left, at which point the driver of the car hit him.
As a result of the accident, the cyclist suffered serious injuries that resulted in his death.
The authorities submitted the young man to a spirometry, which gave a negative result. In charge of the proceedings of the case is the prosecutor Irena Penza.
