Franklin Archibold will represent Panama in the cycling discipline at the next Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.
The official announcement was made by the Panamanian Cycling Federation (FEPACI), chaired by Vicente Carretero, making Archibold the second Panamanian to take part in cycling in the history of these Games.
«It is a great honor for me and my family to be able to represent Panama in the Olympic Games that are the dream of every athlete. “You have to be mentally and physically ready to do the best job on the road,” commented the rider who has two Vuelta Internacional a Chiriquí titles and a Tour of Panama, among other achievements at the national and international level.
Archibold, who plays for the Panama es Cultura y Valores team with a Continental license, has had the opportunity to race alongside great luminaries such as Tadeg Pogacar, among others, and has also had experience in tests in different regions of the world.
In France, there will be more than 250 kilometers that will be covered in a topography that varies from imposing ascents, descents of a high level of technique to the so-called cobblestones.
Franklin Erasmo Archibold, whose father was also in the Panama team at the time and was even in a World Cup like his son, who did it in the U-23, has qualities suitable for that journey.
This discipline continues to make history, since it is the second consecutive time that it participates in the Olympic Games, remembering that in the last edition Christofer Jurado from Chorrerano attended.
