The CUT and Fecode marched in Bogotá to demand the implementation of the new health model for teachers
The president of the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT), Fabio Arias, highlighted the participation of union organizations in the march that toured the streets of Bogotá from the National Park to the Fiduprevisora headquartersin support of the demands of the country’s teachers.
The union leader expressed his support for the demands of the educational sector and reiterated the urgency for Fiduprevisora to fully implement the new health model for teachers, which seeks to guarantee dignified, efficient care without intermediaries.
“We continue to accompany the marches of the National Teachers and, in particular, here in Bogotá, that is why we demand that the entity implement the new health model and eliminate all the operators who previously, like the EPS, were responsible for multiple irregularities and acts of corruption in the provision of the service,” said Arias.
The march, called by the Colombian Federation of Educators (Fecode), brought together the teachers who expressed their dissatisfaction with the delays in the execution of the health modelbreaches of contracts and deficiencies in medical care.
The teachers insisted that Fiduprevisora must guarantee a system that prioritizes the well-being of members and their families.
Arias also took advantage of the mobilization to demand that the national government present a new organic bill that regulates the General Participation System (SGP), with the purpose of ensuring sufficient resources for the education, health and public services sectors, pillars of the social rule of law.

“It is necessary for the Government to advance in the formulation of a new participation law that guarantees adequate financing of fundamental rights. There can be no quality public education or decent health without sufficient resources,” said the president of the CUT.
The demonstrations of the teaching profession were replicated in different cities of the country, where teachers demanded better working conditionsrespect for the autonomy of the educational sector and the prompt resolution of problems that affect health care from the National Fund for Social Benefits of Teachers.
With this mobilization, the education sector unions and the CUT seek to maintain dialogue with the national government and press for concrete solutions that guarantee the rights of more than 800 thousand members of the teaching profession throughout the national territory.
