The national director of Customs, Jaime Borgiani, visited this Monday the san martin bridge and alerted the population that customs officials are being strict with those who exceed the limit of merchandise allowed.
“Regarding vehicle control, we alert the population that the Customs is being strict,” said Borgiani, adding that “those who exceed the permitted limit, which is five kilos, the merchandise will be seized.”
In this sense, he indicated that if “a survey is carried out” there are “a few seizures because people do not respect and take risks.” And he maintained that “the customs officials are there to fulfill their function.”
Asked by Underlined if the customs personnel is sufficient, Borgiani indicated: «Today there is an entry of 60 officials that is in process, there are 70 more who are going to enter. Officials are needed in all State dependencies. He also highlighted the “effort of officials” especially in the “interior.”
Regarding the surplus of five kilos of merchandise, he pointed out. “The issue is whether we apply the five-kilo or zero-kilo rules. The zero kilo nobody wants, neither the merchants nor the Customs. For the customs officers, the zero kilo is easier and you avoid problems; people know that nothing can happen.
