One of the cases was registered at the Guabalá checkpoint when an articulated truck carrying sacks of chicken manure (used as fertilizer) was inspected and when the unloading began to verify 750 bales of allegedly smuggled cigarettes were observed inside. of the brands Gold City, Silver Elephant, Miami, Jaisalmer, Nashville, Carnival, Ultima, Five Star, Kentucky Select, with an approximate value of B /. 562,500.00
While in the District of Gualaca, with the support of the National Police, another article was retained that contained 720 bales of smuggled cigarettes from the Modern, Silver Elephant brands with an approximate value of B /. 540,000.00
The third case with support from the National Border Service units and the Drug Prosecutor’s Office was achieved with the retention of a truck with 306 bales of cigarettes valued at B / .229,500.00, at the San Isidro checkpoint, province of Chiriquí.
So far in 2021, the retention of 402 cases of smuggled cigarettes that are being processes in the National Customs Authority have been registered, which have a CIF value (cost, insurance and freight) of B /.
