Officials from the Directorate of Prevention and Customs Inspection carried out an inventory on Thursday morning in a container that was seized on Wednesday night.
It was learned that said container kept inside various boxes of contraband cigarettes.
The director of the Customs Authority, Tayra Barsallo, indicated that prior to this operation, the container was being tracked from the province of Colón and was intercepted in Chilibre.
So far two people have been arrested.
“The articulated man made many maneuvers to evade us, but we managed to identify the container with merchandise that they wanted to hide what they really had. They had chicken manure to hide the controls and they had more than 230 bales of cigarettes, they have an approximate market value of $170 thousand” he explained.
So far this year, Customs has made five seizures of this type nationwide.
