Customs officials lift work stoppage after reaching agreements

A leadership of the National Association of Customs Officials (ANFA), held a meeting this Friday morning with the director of the National Customs Authority, Tayra Barsallo, where they decided to lift the work stoppage that they had maintained since Thursday.

Barsallo stated: “In a frank, direct and transparent conversation in which we understand their human needs, as well as we accept that the effects on third parties is what the administration or officials want the least, therefore, given the conditions so that we reach this agreement for the good of the country and the reactivation of the economy continues its course, and that we can all get out of this problem, as well as guarantee the logistics hub of this country and international trade a guarantee that Panama is a a competitive country, a trade facilitation country that has a Customs Authority aimed at providing all Panamanians and international trade with the services they deserve. “

On the other hand, the secretary general of the ANFA, Enrique Montenegro, said “for the country, for the collection, from this moment Customs begins to work, everyone begins to work normally.”

Customs officials demanded the payment of productivity bonuses, stamps and vacations of dismissed officials.

On Thursday afternoon, it was known that the National Economic Council of the MEF (CENA) approved the payment of the incentive corresponding to the year 2021, which amounts to $ 3.2 million, and additionally the item for the payment of the stamps for the month of October and November of 2021.
