The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) reported this Sunday that it closed the month of January with 21,198 million pesos in collections, the highest figure recorded in the history of the institution for that month.
The amount represents an increase of 6.03% compared to January 2025when 19,993 million pesos were collected, which represents an additional 1,204.77 million.
- According to a pledge note from the DGAthe result surpassed the goal established for January at more than RD$496 million, reaching a compliance of 102.4%.
The general director of Customs, Nelson Arroyorated the performance as a good start for the annual goal of 294 billion pesos set for 2026. He recalled that, upon assuming office last January 8, committed to strengthening collections, contributing to budget balance and facilitating foreign trade.
Arroyo also indicated that he will continue working on the positioning of the Dominican Republic like a regional logistics hub
supported by its strategic location, port and airport infrastructure, the country’s connectivity and the application of the regulations of the Customs Law 168-21.
