The roadblocks in the Cusco region and adjacent departments have caused a shortage not only of takeaway bread products, but of fuel and even LPG, necessary in most Cusco homes for food preparation, among others.

since mid january the lack of LPG was noticed in the different distributors of Cuscoso bad merchants chose to sell the balls at a higher price, which even reached 200 soles.

It is so that the inhabitants they preferred to go directly to the packaging companies, located mostly on the outskirts of the city. In this way, plants located in Saylla, Angostura and Poroy began to receive an unusual number of users.

Little by little, gas also ran out in these places, reaching the point of not having a single unit for sale. With the ‘truce’ offered by some protesters at the beginning of the week, some units with LPG were able to reach Cusco, starting a whole odyssey to buy the product.

“I don’t have an electric stove, I don’t have a stove, we only have a gas stove and we haven’t been able to cook for a week because the balloon ran out, at first we were going to restaurants, but they also closed, no gas anywhere”, said Maura Quispe, a resident of Cusco.

Since last Monday, thousands of people have been lining up outside the Vitagas packaging plant, located in the town of Pucyura, province of Anta, approximately one hour from Cusco, where the situation has become unsustainable. due to the large number of residents who arrived in the last hours.

According to company representatives, they recently managed to get a truck to enter carrying two thousand 10-kilo gas cylinders, for the same number of users, however it was learned that the number of people in line exceeded three thousand.

In the afternoon, The Police managed to unblock the area known as La Unión in the district of Izcuchaca, where dozens of trucks were stranded with fuel, gas and other items.
