They put a date on it. The regional governor of Cusco, Jean Paul Benavente, announced that with the various social organizations in the region they gave an ultimatum to the Government so that the ministers and deputy ministers arrive in the imperial city and explain about the commitments of the “Cusco Agenda” assumed during the decentralized session of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) on April 22.
Benavente specified that they do not want false expectations to be generated and then a social upheaval breaks out, as occurred on April 18 and 19, when various unions complied with a 48-hour strike.
He announced, for example, that there is no progress on the massification of gas, fertilizers, the decentralization of the Ministry of Culture, etc. “There may be a social upheaval, we will not take responsibility,” she said.
The authority also indicated that, after a meeting with PCM officials last weekend, there was a commitment so that the ministers and deputy ministers can be in the imperial city, although a specific date has not yet been determined.
Meanwhile, the president of the Popular Assembly, Florencia Fernández, pointed out that more than 40 days have passed since the decentralized session in Cusco and the presence of the different ministries is necessary. She stated that some of the commitments had to be dealt with quickly.
In turn, the spokesman for the Departmental Federation of Workers of Cusco (FDTC), Antonio Maquera, said that only seven working groups have been installed and the issue of Women and Social Development is still missing. ❖
