The candidate for mayor of the provincial municipality of Paucartambo for the Somos Perú party, Frank Richard Yuca Meza, who died on September 10 in a traffic accident, leads the count of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) in the Regional and Municipal Elections 2022.
According to ONPE, Yuca Meza obtained the highest number of votes in his province, having 44.5% (2,697) valid votes in his favor.
It should be remembered that the candidate died along with four other members of his entourage, among whom was Benito Huaman Suma, candidate for the position of first mayor of Paucartambo. The accident occurred in the Kucya sector, jurisdiction of the Colquepata district of the Paucartambo province.
According to América Noticias, the truck in which the candidate and his companions were traveling collided with a trailer that was parked in the asphalt work area on the highway.
Who will be the mayor or mayor of Paucartambo?
Lawyer Oscar Matuti explained to RPP Noticias that because the candidate for mayor, as well as his deputy mayor, died, the person who should assume the municipal seat during the 2023-2026 period is the one who remains on that list.
“A list that does not have a head is going to have to observe the possibility of proclaiming the first citizen on the list. If it is not alderman one, it will be alderman two and in that same order, successively, in case that list without a head wins“, held.
In this case, who would assume the mayorship of Paucartambo would be Miriam Magda Hancco Huallpa.
