He Alejandro Velasco airport from the city of Cuscois one of the most important in the country, since it receives dozens of flights daily from the most important destinations in Peru, transporting thousands of national passengers, as well as foreign tourists.
It is due to this high traffic, that the Peruvian Airports and Commercial Aviation Corporation – Corpac, would have decided to carry out maintenance work on the runway, suspending flights from 8:00 p.m. on Monday the 13th until 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14.
Although this type of maintenance is necessary in order to ensure optimal standards on the runway, the news about the suspension of flights has gone down badly among travelers who already had their departures and arrivals scheduled during the stoppage time.
“The rescheduling of flights is being coordinated to avoid greater impact on passengers with itineraries between the hours arranged for maintenance work. We express our apologies for the inconveniences that this measure may cause, but it is necessary to ensure operations without risks or inconveniences.“, they quoted from Corpac.
Meanwhile the flight cancellations or rescheduling that have caused harm to travelers, especially those who come to Cusco for tourism and already have their tickets purchased to visit Machu Picchu, also those who had connections to other destinations.
It was learned that the maintenance work will consist of patching the runway, which shows notable deterioration due to the loading and use of the air terminal.
