The divisions within the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS), so often denied by its leadership, jump to public light with an intense crossing of accusations. The words of Gerardo García, vice president of the party against David Choquehuanca, have been echoed by the controversial Rolando Cuéllar.
The Santa Cruz assemblyman has not saved anything and launches his criticism against the former president. He also targets the elected officials of the Cochabambino Tropic, whom he accused of “camouflaging themselves with the acronym of MAS.”
“The mistakes of Evo Morales, we must make them notice and we are going to continue to do so,” he says. He redoubles his statement by pointing out that “no one is God here” and complements that “a caudillo cannot replace God”.
For Cuellar, Morales failed the people when he decided to flee the country and request political asylum in Mexico. “He should have defended the people from him, stayed in the Government Palace,” he declared. He compared the former president with other figures in continental politics, remembering former Chilean president Allende. “Mr. Evo Morales he should have given his life like Salvador Allende,” he said.
With his usual way of expressing himself, Cuéllar questions the appellation of “commander” that they have tried to give Morales during the meeting held over the weekend by assembly members of his party. The deputy rejects the adjective considering that “a commander does not abandon his people“.
Charge against Chapare deputies
“Who is appointing you as commander?” Rolando Cuéllar questions himself. He responds by emphasizing that that denomination comes from the deputies of the Tropic. He points directly to Leonardo Loza, Gualberto Arispe and Héctor Arce.
The head of the MAS deputies caucus, Arispe, yesterday presented the nine agreements reached between the party’s national leadership and the plurinational assembly members. In addition to reiterate the political command of Morales, the agreements propose “the dismissal of public servants who speak against the MAS-IPSP, Evo Morales and leaders of other social sectors”.
Cuéllar asks the three assembly members mentioned that “present a project for Cochabamba or at least prosecute Manfred Reyes Villa”. He not only considers that these assembly members they have not carried out inspection actions, but aim higher. “They give us to understand that they are opponents camouflaged with the acronym of MAS”, reinforce your position.
He again compares Morales to another current political figure. “Lula da Silva was in prison and now he is about to win the elections,” he says. And in return, the former president left the country. This different behavior discredits the ability to command Morales who do you consider “a former leader, nothing more”.
