In the midst of the controversy generated by the implementation of the Unified Council of the Electricity Distributor companies (CEED), it decided to suspend this measure, which even affected customers who complied with the specific payment of the service.
According to Celso Marranzini, president of the entity, the provision was temporarily eliminated with the objective of applying new strategies that optimize electricity service.
The lifting of the measure was considered positive by former Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Isa Conde.

“I am observing that the right path is being taken, especially with the focus on smart counters,” said the former official in an interview with El Periódico Today digital.
New measures to improve electrical service
Isa Conde praised the new actions that the CAED will implement to regulate the service without harming users who promptly pay their invoices.
“We are talking about the installation of smart counters, in order to reduce losses and prevent responsible consumers from paying for those who are not,” he said.

The former minister also stressed that the implementation of the appropriate technology would help reduce the deficit and, with it, the “financial blackouts.”
“The bull is now being taken by the horns,” he added.
Recommendations to eliminate blackouts
Isa Conde suggested that, to improve the electrical system, two fundamental axes must be addressed: “a good administration of the sector and the improvement of techniques through the use of new technologies.”
“An efficient administration solves a financial problem and allows you to put the system at a competitive level in the region,” said the businessman.

«But the system cannot be improved without incorporating technological improvements, which is precisely what is being tried. I think they are on the right path, and I hope that the objectives are achieved, ”he concluded.
Antonio Isa Conde, who was Minister of Energy and Mines in 2015, lamented “The Disaster of the EDES”, which in his opinion had improved and reduced the losses.
CUED measures: technologies without scheduled blackouts
The CUED announced the suspension of the scheduled blackouts that it had implemented to reduce the losses in the circuits where they exceeded 50%.
He stressed that “the periodic service of the service” resulted in the integration of 300,000 new customers into the electrical system.
“We are implementing a package of measures that will continue to optimize the system, but do not expect that we can achieve it in a single year,” said Celso Marranzini, president of the agency.
He stressed that 550,000 advanced meters were installed last year in electricity distributors (EDE).

He pointed out that the implementation of advanced technology allows to improve the quality of the service and optimize the collection, which directly benefits citizens and the sustainability of the general electrical system.
Collection of EDES in the last two years
The CAED reported that in the last two years the electricity distributors have reached a record in collections, with a total of 2,040 million dollars annually in 2023 and 2024.

This figure represents an increase of more than 500 million dollars compared to the average collected between 2018 and 2021, which was 1,532 million dollars annually. According to the CEED, this growth is due to the implementation of advanced technologies in measurement and control.
