The president of the University Confederation of Teachers (CUD) and member of the presidium of the Executive Committee of the Bolivian University (CEUB), Carlos Salinas, affirmed this Friday that the XIII Congress of that body will be held with or without the presence of university leader Max Mendoza, since the most important thing is the presence of the rectors and the delegations of all the public universities in the country and that only with the absence of one of them could it be suspended.

“This congress is not carried out through the estates, through the representation of the different universities. We have held a meeting with all the rectors and they have all guaranteed the presence of their delegations, so the fact that a FUL, the CUD or the CUB do not attend, through their representative Max Mendoza, does not affect anything so that the congress is held, since the delegations are from universities, where there are grassroots teachers as well as students,” Salinas told Radio Compañera.

He insisted that the meeting will take place, since all the rectors confirmed their presence, although he said that it would be essential for Mendoza to participate because it is a call that he himself published and now it is surprising that he does not want to attend.

“We hope that Mendoza attends the congress and faces the CEUB to explain what all his actions have been and why he agreed to those salaries and even made representations on behalf of the university, signed contracts, traveled abroad, made use of State assets such as the two vehicles, among others, without meeting the requirements,” he said.

He added that the new presidium, in charge of the rector of the Tomás Frías de Potosí University and his representation through the CUD, are positions that they recently assumed and that it is the responsibility of the previous executives in charge of the presidium for not having alerted about all this that was happening at the CEUB.

In the opinion of the representative of the CUD, these are issues that must be accounted for by the university system and the Bolivian population, especially the discretionary management that occurred in the last four years.

A few days ago, the rector of the Tomás Frías Autonomous University and president of the presidium of the congress of universities, Pedro López, stated that some 600 people will participate in the XIII National Congress of Universities, scheduled for May 23-27, which will be held in the city of potosina

The congress will be installed after four years of suspension, a fact that gave way to Mendoza benefiting from the payment of a salary for that period, without corresponding.
