Cuban baseball player Néstor Cortes Jr. underwent successful surgery to repair an injury to his throwing arm, which would keep him out of the Major Leagues (MLB) for at least nine months.

According to journalist Francys Romero, Cortes Jr. suffered from a small tear in the tendon of his left arm, which has now been corrected by doctors.
