In the midst of the usual changes that mark the offseason, Cubans Bryan Ramos and Yanquiel Fernández received news that fills their continuity in the Major Leagues (MLB) for next season.
Ramos, an infielder who debuted with the Chicago White Sox in 2024, was placed on assignment by that team, a move that removed him from the 40-man roster, reported journalist Francys Romero.
The 23-year-old infielder only participated in four games last season, in which his compatriot Miguel Antonio Vargas took over the third base defense.
He had many more opportunities in his debut season, when he posted a .202 offensive average and hit three homers.
The arrival of Vargas to the franchise is now joined by the team’s need to make room on the main roster for the recently acquired Dominican reliever Seranthony Domínguez, Romero said in a comment to his post.
We have to wait for the possibility that another team will be interested in Ramos’ services. If it does not happen, the Cuban will have to once again demonstrate to management that he is ready to rise again to the highest level.

Another who at the moment does not seem to be in his team’s immediate plans is Yanquiel Fernández, also 23 years old, and with luck similar to Ramos’ for the next campaign.
The leaders of the Colorado Rockies placed the island outfielder on assignment, after having made 52 appearances last season, his first in the Major League.
During that time he took advantage of opportunities to raise his offensive average to .225, and showed occasional displays of power by sending four balls out of bounds.
The next few hours would be decisive to know if the Cuban has managed to awaken the interest of another franchise, in which he would have to continue working to ensure his continuity in the Majors.

Pitcher Yunior Tur’s dreams of debuting in the Majors came closer again with the invitation from the A’s to participate in spring training soon, with the option of earning a spot for Opening Day.

During the most recent campaign, in which he had action at those levels, he left a balance of 4-9 and an ERA of 3.29 earned runs per game, compiling his performance in just over 125 innings.
