Cubana Marín makes history and seals women’s performance in Cali-Valle

Cali, Colombia, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) Owner of the Olympic and world titles in the youth category, Milaymis de la Caridad Marín made history today by sealing with gold the performance of women in the fight of the Cali-Valle Games.

At the age of 20, Marín exhibited talent and quality on mattress B of the Miguel Calero Coliseum and defeated Argentina’s Linda Machuca by superiority to celebrate the Pan-American title and thus complete all the World Wrestling Union titles at junior age.

The first Cuban woman to win a World Cup gold medal did not disappoint the national fans gathered in the Cali facility and in the reissue of the Buenos Aires 2018 final, she beat the South American 11-0 without complications.

Openly and aware of its quality, Marín showed satisfaction for the feat accomplished and as the most experienced gladiator praised the performance of the rest of her compatriots, first among nations after celebrating three golds and two subtitles.

“Now I am going to make the leap to the senior category and I very much want to maintain my medal table as champion and for this I will have to work hard,” said the queen of the under-23 world in 2019.

With this award, Marín crowned a season in which he missed the participation in the event under the five rings of Tokyo 2020, after losing in the quarter-final phase of the Sofia qualifier against the Turkish stellar and European multi-champion Yasemin Adar for 2-0.

“I needed this triumph, since I could not attend the Tokyo Olympics, something I longed for a lot but as Professor Filiberto Delgado told me this is the beginning for the next cycles,” he stressed.

Marín’s actions came after the failure of Yolanda Cordero in the 62 kilograms, who could not repeat dominance and without strength yielded 8-5 to the Venezuelan Astrid Montero.

The other Cuban present at the farewell of the women in Cali-Valle, Dailianis Canales (68 kg) was without medals when she fell in her first presentation against the Dominican Gloria Segura.

After this result, Cuba dominated the women’s wrestling contest with five awards and highlights for the Marin champions, Laura Herin (53 kg) and Yaynelis Sanz (57 kg).

The other gold metals in the event were won by the Ecuadorian Lucia Yamileth Yepez (50 kg), the Venezuelan Astrid Montero (68 kg) and the Colombian Nicoll Dayanna Parrado (68 kg).
