Cubana de Aviación increases flights to Santiago de Cuba and Holguín and adjusts schedules from Havana

With immediate effect, Cuban Aviation Starting this Sunday, it increased its domestic air frequencies and modified the schedules of several routes to and from Havana.

Among the most important changes are the routes from Havana: the flight to Holguín now leaves on Mondays at 7:30 at night and on Wednesdays at 10:20 at night.

Meanwhile, to Santiago de Cuba there are flights on Tuesdays at 2:00 in the afternoon, Thursdays with one at 3:45 in the morning and another at 9:00 at night, and finally on Sunday at 3:45 in the morning.

In the opposite direction, from Holguín to Havana the flight operates on Mondays at 9:50 at night and on Wednesdays at 11:30 at night.

Meanwhile, from Santiago de Cuba, they leave on Tuesdays at 11:30 in the morning and at 6:45 in the afternoon. On Thursday, the flight leaves for the capital at 11:30 p.m. and on Friday at 6:45 p.m.

The airline warns that passengers who purchased tickets before the change and are affected can go to the sales offices to request a refund or rescheduling according to availability. Tickets, he adds, are only available at www.cubana.cu or at the airline’s offices, with payments in cash or by transfer.

This increase occurs just a month after the airline’s last route update, which reorganized the service in October according to “the availability of its fleet.” The company’s other readjustment to its flights was last April, as a result of the “increase in operating frequencies.”

After several days closed after the passage of Hurricane Melissathe Antonio Maceo International Airport resumed domestic flight departures on November 13, although the terminal had not restored its full normality, with work on energy, lighting and services still in progress.

Although bus routes and flights to the eastern zone began to be restored in the first five days of November, damage to the roads and transportation system still persists.

The progressive restoration of services in the eastern zone began with “new itineraries and logistical measures to guarantee safe mobility and supply to the population,” explained the Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila.

Founded in 1929, Cubana de Aviación is positioned as the island’s flagship airline and, after 1959, it became state property, as part of the Cuban Civil Aviation Corporation.

According to official data, the use of public transportation in Cuba fell by more than 12% in 2024, and that drop deepened to 23%. in the first quarter of 2025when 13.7 million fewer people were transported than in the same period last year. Air transportation reflects a crisis in that means of transportation.
