MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban Women’s Network will participate in the ninth Summit of the Americas, which begins this Monday in the city of Los Angeles, California, United States, and will last until the next day 10.
As announced through Twitter the organization itself will be represented by its coordinator Frisia Batista Mokárzel.
In the event, the Women’s Network will raise the reality of Cuban women unprotected in the face of domestic and institutional violence, says the publication.

State Security prohibits several activists from participating in the Summit
Several Cuban activists and journalists have been invited to participate in the Summit. However, the island’s regime has prevented their departure from the country.
This Sunday the Cuban authorities prevented the independent writer and journalist María Matienzo Puerto from traveling.
In statements offered to CubaNetMatienzo revealed that upon arrival at the airport he was able to quickly identify several State Security agents.
“I got to Immigration and that’s when they tell me to get behind the red line. They ask for my address. It seems that they make some call. I didn’t know exactly what they did. The process was very fast. The immigration officer who returns with my passport tells me that I cannot travel today. She gave me no explanation, although I asked her exactly why. She was very insistent that she not go for today. I guess she went for the Summit issue because it was obvious: my ticket had Los Angeles as its final destination, ”she explained.
On Saturday, State Security in Sancti Spíritus prevented activist Aimara Peña González from traveling to Havana, who would take her flight to the United States in order to attend the meeting, for which she was accredited.
While the entrepreneur from Santa Clara Saily González Velázquez denounced that she had been threatened by a State Security agent who warned her that she would not be allowed to go pick up her passport visa at the United States embassy in Havana.
