Cuban Robeisy Ramírez will defend his title as world featherweight champion

Mexico City, Mexico-. Robeisy Ramirez, newly crowned World Boxing Organization featherweight world champion, will defend his title in Tokyo. The fight will be next July 25 and as an opponent will have the Japanese

Satoshi Shimizu was a bronze medalist in the 2008 Olympics. While the man from Cienfuegos is known for winning the gold medal in the London 2012 Olympic Games and Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Ramirez is one of the flashiest fighters in his division right now and all eyes are on this upcoming fight and the outcome. The Cuban has already sent a message to his Japanese followers as a prelude to the fight.

April 1 the cuban boxer Robeisy Ramirez became world champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) in the featherweight category this Saturday. In a match he dominated throughout, Ramirez defeated former champion Isaac Dogboe via unanimous decision.

“With the blessing of God, for my family and my people and with Cuba in my heart… Today we are going for the title!” declared “el Tren” moments before the fight.

After twelve rounds, the judges gave the Cuban the winner with scores of 117-110, 118-109 and 119-108. With this result, the two-time Olympic champion’s winning streak increased to 12.

After concluding the fight, with the champion’s belt in his hands, he said that he dedicates this “always to my daughters, my family, all my people from Cuba, from Miami, to all the Cubans who came here. Always asking for the freedom of Cuba”
