Cuban regime will demand ten million dollars from pitcher Yariel Rodríguez

MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) threatened a demand for “10 million dollars for damages” against the Cuban pitcher Yariel Rodríguez, who left Cuba this week and with it broke ties with the FCB.

Yariel Rodríguez had an agreement in Japanese professional baseball with the Chunichi Dragons, through the FCB.

According to the Cuban sports entity, “the fact constitutes a serious breach of what was agreed for the period 2023-2024 between Dragones, the athlete and the Federation, which acts as their representative in the agreement.”

A note spread in the official media, points out that the pitcher’s decision “contradicts the efforts made for Yariel to develop in a high-level league like Japan, and from there to support the Cuban national team.”

“By virtue of the provisions of the aforementioned agreement, we make public that” the athlete acknowledges and accepts that compliance with this contract begins from the moment he leaves Cuba for Japan and ends upon his return to Cuba. He also accepts that, in case of breach of the contract by him without just cause, at the discretion of the Federation, he may not be hired by any other club or third parties without the express authorization of the Federation, “said the entity. governmental.

After affirming that the FCB will require the athlete the figure of 10 million dollars for damages, he pointed out: “we will demand rights and responsibilities”.

Yariel Rodríguez, who was the best pitcher for Team Cuba in the recently concluded World Classic of Baseball, left the Island and are in the Dominican Republic, from where he will seek to sign with a Major League Baseball organization.
