Cuban regime spokesmen attack boxer Yordenis Ugás on television

MIAMI, United States. – Various spokesmen for the Cuban regime have attacked or mocked boxer Yordenis Ugás, after the world champion fight with the American Errol Spence.

Michel Torres Corona, presenter of the official program “With Filo”, shared memes of Ugás and tried to demerit the successful Cuban boxer. “You have heard that Yordenis Ugás, a boxer who spoke a lot about the dictatorship, the political prisoners, the lack of freedom in Cuba, but when it was his turn to go out in the ring…”, said the official spokesman with irony.

Torres Corona also presented a recent post of the official journalist Francisco Rodríguez Cruz. In a Facebook post, Paquito el de Cuba wrote that “the people of Patria y Vida don’t win by cooking, boxing, or anything…”, alluding to Ugás’ role in this Sunday’s fight and to the musician’s performance Cuban Yotuel Romero ―one of the interpreters of the famous musical theme― in the Spanish television contest Masterchef.

For his part, the sports journalist Aliet Arzola Lima lamented that Torres Corona returned to “try it with sports” and again stayed “as if he were lost in a field of lettuce.”

“Now he says that Yordenis Ugás is a loser because of the defeat the other day with Spence, when he shouldn’t know who Ugás is or who Spence is, on a strictly boxing level. The mania of talking for talking’s sake, or as Piqué would say a couple of days ago, throwing shit for throwing shit… They are very sad “, assured journalist.

Last Sunday Ugás entered the ring with the music of “Patria y Vida” in the background and an outfit that expressed solidarity with the political prisoners of Cuba.

“I feel sad that I couldn’t give the victory to the people who are supporting me. I trained hard, but was outclassed by one of the best fighters, a champion. I wanted to keep fighting until the end, but I couldn’t see out of my eye. But I wanted to go to the end,” he said after the fight, according to The New Herald.

For his part, Michel Torres Corona, nephew of Cuban musician Kiki Corona, has joined the team of defenders of the Cuban regime on national television.

Recently, Cuban exiles published a request on the Change.org platform for the University of Nottingham, in the United Kingdom, to suspend an invitation made to the official communicator.

The request, launched last Wednesday, calls on that center of higher learning to revoke the participation of the Castro spokesman in the XV Annual Conference of the Cuba Research Foruman event that will take place from July 6 to 8, 2022 and in which Torres Corona appears as the main speaker.
