MIAMI, United States. — Rosyeilis de Armas Rodríguez, a 19-year-old Cuban who denounced having been raped on February 24 on a highway in San Cristóbal, in the province of Artemisa, demanded answers to Miguel Diaz-Canel after not having received attention or protection from the institutions supposedly in charge of protecting citizens.

The young woman labeled the ruler on her twitter account after not receiving answers for his case in various military and judicial instances in the province of Havana.

“I go to this medium because I am already tired of not being given answers anywhere. I have gone to the police stations, to the La Lisa municipal prosecutor’s office, to the general prosecutor’s office, to the military prosecutor’s office, I have traveled all over Havana in search of answers and they have not given me any,” the Cuban denounced.

The victim claimed to have been raped on February 24, 2023 “by a creep named Luis Ángel Rivera Mena when she was still a young lady.”

According to his testimony, despite the fact that the rapist was arrested the same afternoon the events occurred, he was later released thanks to the intervention of his brother, a soldier with the rank of colonel.

“The only thing they told me was that it was under measure, which I don’t understand. How are they going to tell me that a rapist is free on the streets when I, who was his victim, and perhaps not the only one, do not even go out to the corner for fear of finding him again? ”, Questioned the young woman.

Similarly, Rosyeilis de Armas Rodríguez stressed that she is extremely affected after having suffered the rape.

“I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, my life has completely changed, that man screwed me up. And while I am with thousands of psychological traumas and fears, he is quietly in his house, ”said the victim.

After being raped, the young woman underwent tests on the same February 24 in Legal Medicine. Since then, she has gotten no results or answers. In this sense, she regretted that the citizens themselves have to take sides so that justice is done in cases like these.

“They just tell me to wait. I’m tired of waiting, I’m tired of justice not being done in this country, I’m tired of nobody giving solutions to problems as serious as these and we have to be ourselves, the citizens, who have to take sides.” he expressed.

The young woman emphasized all the psychological damage she has suffered after being abused by the rapist.

“I demand justice, I demand that they arrest him and make him pay for having ended my emotional stability, for having ended my will to live. I reached the point of a suicide attempt due to depression, for fear that by running loose it could do the same to me, for simply not wanting to exist after experiencing something as traumatic as this. You put many people in jail every day for anything; for an illegal sale, for drunk driving, for a fight, for thousands of things, and then they come to tell me that they can’t put a rapist in jail because their brother colonel is doing the impossible to clear his name. I do not understand your type of justice and laws, but I have already reached my limit, I do not know what else to do, ”he pointed out.

Rosyeilis de Armas Rodríguez ended her post by demanding that the rapist who abused her be put behind bars.

“And I demand that you, who are supposedly the law, do it. I need that man to pay and he’s not paying, and it’s because of your incompetence, because you’re not doing anything about it, and I’m not going to let that go unpunished. I need, I want and I demand justice”.

So far this year they have been registered in Cuba 17 feminicidesthe same number that had been reported by independent organizations in the first seven months of 2022.

Despite the numerous cases of gender violence, the island’s authorities and official propaganda continue to hide the crimes and turn their backs on the numerous demands of civil society regarding a Comprehensive Law that helps curb impunity and abuses. against the females.
