Cuban Rafael Alba goes for gold in the World Taekwondo Championship

The double world champion and Olympic bronze, Cuban Rafael Alba, will fight today at the World Taekwondo Championship in Mexico.

Alba will be the only one of the eight Cuban competitors who will start in the second round, the phase of 32, where he will wait for the winner of the fight between the Guinean Aboubacar Soumah and the Cypriot Andreas Stylianu.

The World Taekwondo (WT) considers him one of the best figures of the 16 weight divisions summoned. They give it as a favorite to get the gold medal.

The Mexican Leslie Soltero won the gold medal in the women’s 67kg.

On her way to the final, Soltero defeated the Jordanian Julyana Al-Sadek, then the Spanish Cecilia Castro Burgos and in the final match she was crowned 2-1 as champion against the Serbian Aleksandra Perisic.
