The Cuban Prime MinisterManuel Marrero, begins a three-day official visit to Cambodia on Tuesday with the purpose of strengthening ties between the two countries and with which he ends his Asian tour after having passed through Japan, Vietnam and Laos.
Together with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Marrero will preside over the signing ceremony of various bilateral agreements in fields such as sports, education and culture, among others, reports the Cambodian Foreign Ministry.

The representative of the Cuban Government, who will remain in Cambodia until Thursday, will also lay floral offerings before the Monument for Independence, in Phnom Penh, and the statue of the late monarch Norodom Sihanouk, in addition to holding an audience with the current King Norodom Sihamoni.
The visit “will reaffirm the friendly and long-standing relations between Cambodia and Cuba and will underline the need to further deepen and broaden cooperation for the greatest benefit of the two countries and peoples,” says a foreign statement.
On the 27th, the Cuban prime minister began his official agenda on his tour of Asia by attending the state funeral in Japan for former prime minister Shinzo Abe, assassinated on July 8 during a political rally.
In Vietnam, in the first visit of a senior Cuban leader to the country since 2018, Marrero promoted agreements reached between the two countries and strengthened diplomatic relations with the Asian communist country.
The Hanoi government, with whom Havana established diplomatic relations since 1960, is one of the main partners of the Latin American country in Asia with cooperation in politics, economy, defense, agriculture, technology and education, among others.
Cuba signs several agreements with Laos during the visit of the Cuban Prime Minister
Marrero met with the main Vietnamese leaders, including the Secretary General of the Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Throng, and the President, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, in addition to participating in the Vietnam-Cuba Business Forum.
While in Laos, the penultimate stop for the Cuban politician and which took place between Sunday and Monday, the Prime Minister met with the President of the Republic, Thongloun Sisoulith, and his counterpart, Phankham Viphavanh, with whom he presided over the ratification of various agreements topics such as education, agriculture and health.
