The Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canelratified this Friday his interest that the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) participate in the economic and social development of the Island, in the short, medium and long term.
During his virtual speech at the meeting of the Eurasian Supreme Economic Council, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, Díaz-Canel said that, to date, the lines of possible cooperation identified are exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, energy, and the biopharmaceutical industry, according to a report from Latin Press (PL).

He also mentioned iron and steel, agriculture, tourism and transportation and ratified the need for Cuba to encourage trade in goods and services, especially the export of products, based on the national supply and a mutually advantageous collaboration.
The Head of State invited the businessmen and women of the tourism sector of the member countries of the EAEU to the realization, next May, of the International Tourism Fair, based in Havana.
The Cuban president participates in this meeting hours after having concluded a tour of the Caribbean that ended in Grenada. The journey, which included his participation in the VIII Caricom-Cuba Summit, began in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and included Barbados.
During their stay in Sait George, the Cuban delegation paid homage to those who fell during the 1983 US invasion, when 24 Cuban workers died when they received the order to confront the troops that arrived in the country after a state coup that produced the assassination of the then leader Maurice Bishop and other members of his government.
Díaz-Canel includes in his speech the impact of climate change for the Caribbean
Díaz-Canel was received by the Granada Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, upon his arrival; but he also held talks with Dr. Keith Mitchell, leader of the New National Party, currently in opposition. He did the same with Cecile Ellen Fleurette La Grenade, Governor General.
The tour “has been exciting and very significant in the relations between the Caribbean and Cuba,” according to statements by Bruno Rodriguez ParrillaCuban Minister of Foreign Affairs.
