“Cuban Passion”, a Turkish soap opera in Havana for 2026

“Cuban Passion”, a Turkish soap opera in Havana for 2026

Hakan is a Turkish engineer who comes to Havana as part of the personnel that accompanies the floating plants (patanas) contracted to Türkiye by the island authorities.

In the Cuban capital he meets Marina, a beautiful and dreamy young woman, a waitress at a private restaurant, who captivates him from their first encounters and with whom he begins a passionate love relationship that will completely change their lives.

However, their love is not without obstacles and intrigues that they must overcome.

Rafael, Marina’s father, opposes the courtship while insisting his daughter return to study at the university. Hakan, for his part, is engaged in his country to Nisa, whom he does not love, but to whom he is united by the bond established by their respective families.

Furthermore, Demir, who works with Hakan in Havana, also meets and falls in love with Marina, and does everything possible to separate the couple. To do this, he conspires with the ambitious Sandra, the protagonist’s neighbor, whom Demir pays to seduce Hakan.

This is, roughlythe argument of Cuban passiona Turkish soap opera in which romance, contradictions and intrigue are mixed, and which should begin filming after the summer of 2026, according to information leaked by the production company to which it had access OnCuba.

For now, the cast is not defined, but names of actors such as Burak Özçivit, protagonist of the famous series, are being used. Eternal Loveand Barış Arduç, known in Cuba for the very popular I rent you my love.

As for the Cuban part, which will have an important weight in the soap opera, the producers are scheduled to travel to Havana at the beginning of the year for the production process. casting. To do this, they would have already established contacts with Cuban television and the Caricatos Agency, they said.

Regarding the fact of filming in Cuba at a time when the country is going through a deep economic and energy crisis, the company in charge of Cuban passion has come up with an ingenious solution that, in the process, would help the declining electricity generation on the island.

In addition to hiring both state and private companies for insurance and other services, including technicians—which would represent a very grateful monetary injection for these companies—they will also carry everything they consider necessary, including a new floating power plant to ensure that blackouts do not affect the filming process.

With this they would also contribute to the Cuban Electrical System, since the megawatts produced by this nonsense that are not consumed in production would be at the disposal of the Electrical Union (UNE).

Aware of the popularity of Turkish soap operas on the island, the producers have also promised that they will donate the transmission rights to Cuba once the series is released, so that Cubans can watch it in a short time, as long as electricity availability allows it.

After these leaks became known, some Cubans have begun to calculate how long the blackouts could be alleviated due to the filming of the soap opera on the island, while they hope that the scriptwriters will get involved with the plot and no less than 500 chapters will be filmed.

Meanwhile, many young and not-so-young Cuban fans of Turkish productions are already excited about the idea of being able to see heartthrobs from the Eurasian country live, and they even plan to volunteer as extras during the filming process.

To learn more about this project, OnCuba tried to contact Cuban television and the Unión Eléctrica, but, although we did not receive an official response, sources from both official entities said they had no knowledge of this alleged soap opera nor had they received notification from any Turkish company for casting, filming or service agreements.

Nor about the alleged arrival of another Turkish idiot, even though Cuba would appreciate it.

On the contrary, they drew attention to the fact that this news was released precisely on December 28, when the April fool’s day and many people and media outlets invent stories and make jokes aimed at their gullible friends and readers.

If you believed all of the above, know that it is precisely that: an innocent and good faith joke regarding this date, with the idea of motivating a smile in the midst of such difficult and dark circumstances – literally and figuratively – for Cuba.

Although, who knows. Maybe some Turkish producer reads this note and really decides to make a soap opera in Havana. If so, and by doing so you contribute to at least slightly alleviating the difficulties of Cubans and bringing stars from your country to the island, then you are welcome, don’t you think?
