AREQUIPA, Peru – Nélido Manso, prominent Cuban sailboat, will enter the Hall of Fame of the International Snipe Class Association (SCIRA), a prestigious sports organization based in the United States.

Along with Manso, a native of Caibarién, province of Villa Clara, the Brazilian Bruno Bethlem, the Belgian Andre Callot, the Italian Enrico Michel and the American John Rose will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
SCIRA evaluated three fundamental categories when choosing the new “immortalized”: sailing, technical design and collaborators.
This marks the sixth time that the institution that represents that class within the International Sailing Federation has awarded its best exponents with this recognition.
“For the Cuban, world champion of the discipline and multiple Pan American medalist, this is a new award that comes to enhance his successful career sports, as he is the first Antillean residing in the country to achieve such a high award,” he emphasizes. HIT.

The Manso-Lorenzo pairing was also crowned in three editions of the Pan American Games: Havana 1991; Mar del Plata, Argentina (1995) and Winnipeg Canada (1999), as well as in the Central American and Caribbean Games, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1993.
Subsequently, the successful duo won the silver medal in the New Continent competition held in Santo Domingo 2003. After retiring in 2004, Nélido returned to his old ways at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, 2019, where he had as a partner His daughter Iris Laura Manso Carrera competed in her fifth continental competition, in which she achieved a creditable fourth place.
